KPK Police is Fast Becoming the Most High Tech Crime Fighting Unit all over Pakistan

Police in the KP province has achieved a lot in recent years. It has demonstrated that law enforcement agencies in Pakistan can be brought up to 21st century methods and be purged of political influences that hinder its day-to-day workings.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has taken a number of Information Technology initiatives including Digitization of FIRs, Tenant Information System, Identity Verification System, Vehicle Verification System, Criminal Record Verification, Geo-Tagging, SOS Alert Service, etc. To cater for the training needs of the Police officers/officials working on the IT tools throughout the province, KP Police established Police School of Information Technology in September 2015.

It is now mandatory for every Police recruit to undergo IT training in the Police School of IT to be eligible for promotion to the next higher rank. The school has trained more than 2000 police officers/officials in different computer courses offered under the supervision of qualified instructors. These include Basic Computer Course, Advanced Computer Course, Professional Computer Course, E-Learning Course, Computer Programming and Hardware Maintenance & Troubleshooting Course.

Equipped with technology and hard training Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has become even more vigilant and efficient. Digitization had made them work more quickly and without less difficulty. Now they can solve cases and decrease the crime rate to a surprising limit.

In 2016, with the help of modern technology a total of 1.1 million FIRs were recorded. KPK’s Police achieved many targets and made records. We are summarizing them for you.

IT Initiatives:

• Records are made by determination and devotion and the following records just reflect the same.

• 63,225 Heinous Crimes / Sensitive ^ places Geo-Tagged ^
• 149,168 Pictures of Crime Scenes Geo-Tagged
• 26,821 Educational Institutions and others linked with SOS Alert Service
• 14,138 Public Complaints Entertained
• 161, 547 People Provided Assistance from PALs
• 3323 Persons Released from Jails (PRJ) under Surveillance

Gadgets:

• They were equipped with some interesting and new gadgets.
• Vehicle Verification System (VVS) – 9.5 Million
• Hits Identity Verification System (IVS) – 2 Million Hits
• Criminal Record Verification System (CRV) – 4.3
• Million Hits City Patrol Officers equipped with Centralized Data Base Tablets.
• A video was uploaded on the official page of Imran Khan that featured the achievement of KPK’s Police.

Take the SOS Alert Service as an example. It started about 2 years ago as an alert system for educational institutions at their time of need.

IGP KP Mr Nasir Khan Durrani directed the KP police to hold training workshops at educational institutes, both private and government owned. The participants were given a live demonstration of how the SOS alert system works and how to register for it.

Police IT School and Upgraded Infrastructure

To train the KP police for using these new systems effectively, a Police IT school was established in September 2015. To be eligible for promotion to a higher rank, it was made mandatory for every police recruit to undergo training at the IT school.

Since its establishment, the IT school has trained more than 2000 police officers and officials in different computer courses. The courses are:

• Professional Computer Course
• E-Learning Course
• Computer Programming
• Hardware Maintenance & Troubleshooting Course

The police in the province have been provided upgraded infrastructure as well. The newly constructed Police Lines in several districts in the province are evidence of that.
